Venue & Other Info
Times – ~confluence~ opens at 4pm, and the music schedule begins at 5pm on Saturday. Everyone MUST be at the site by 11PM. No entry will be allowed after 11PM. If you have extenuating circumstances that will prevent you from arriving before 11PM, contact Maer.
Parking – Parking is extremely limited. Everyone will need to carpool. If you need assistance in arranging a ride or have extra room in your vehicle, contact Maer.
Area – We will be inhabiting the Yurt (a cylindrical building with a conical roof) and the adjacent Camp Fire Circle. Additionally, we will have 2-3 public tents set up in the area to accommodate sleeping (see below). Feel free to bring & set up your own tent. The site is right on the Pacific coast in Marin County overlooking the ocean. It can get chilly at night, and foggy nights tend to outnumber clear ones. The venue address, directions, and a map will be posted & emailed out to ticket holders in mid-August.
Pets – Pets are not allowed at the site. This is the venue’s rule, and there is no movement on this issue.
Sleeping in Yurt – Sleeping in the Yurt is strictly prohibited by the venue. This is one of the major rules we must follow to the letter. This is a safety hazard, and because Slide Ranch is on Golden Gate National Forrest Land, they can not change this rule. We will have 2-3 tents set up outside for people to sleep in. If anyone begins dozing off in the Yurt, they’ll be asked to take a nap in one of the tents. We will likely have a speaker or two outside, so you should be able to still hear the music while in the tents.
Smoking – Smoking (anything) will only be allowed outside. In order to minimize our cleanup time, we ask that you be diligent about putting out cigarette butts in coffee cans that we will have positioned outside the Yurt and at the camp fire.
Fucking with the Animals – The venue functions as a ranch, and would like you to not fuck with the animals that are on site.
Wandering – There are some private residences on the site. There are some areas the site people would like us to stay away from. We will make you aware of these areas. However, there are some trails you can hike around which we can point out to you. Please don’t hike on trails at night unless you have some light source. A morning hike (10 minutes) to the big field camping site will likely be arranged.
Participation – The point of confluence is to bring together music and experience. This is not some hokey bullshit hippie marketing line: we want everyone to participate, as much as they want to. If you want to help with decorations, tending the fire, or periodically cleaning up a bit – jump in and do so. Bring things to share: a card game, a weird toy, whatever.Bathrooms – A large disabled-persons size porta-loo will be available next to the yurt & campfire. it was really clean & nice for our first event, so we anticipate it will be for this one too. there is a water spigot to wash your hands near the camp fire. we will have hand sanitizer and plenty of toilet paper inside the porta-loo, which will be blessed with light during the night. persons of any gender may feel free to wander & take a whiz in the grass or trees.
Contact – If you get lost or need info away from your computer, call Maer at 510.205.9598 (cell)
Food & Drink
Two small meals are included in the ticket price for this ~confluence~, plus tea, water, and some snacks. We will have detailed information on the food on this page by mid-August. You may bring your own food & drink and/or some to share.
Other than the food, tea, and water, everything else is strictly BYO. Please be responsible with intoxicants.
Participation & Crews
~confluence~ is all about direct participation through contribution. here are some areas we will need help with. if you would like to help, email Maer maer@dub-beautiful. feel free to volunteer for more than one crew... thanks!
Greeting Crew - Need 2 person rotations at the gate between 4pm - 11pm. This involves punching peoples' tickets, showing them where to park, and directing them to the Yurt site. Shifts should last 90 minutes, meaning we need about 8 people total.
Decoration Crew - Need 4-6 people to arrive around 3pm to assist with decorations for inside and the path leading to the campfire.
Tent Crew - Need 3-4 people to assist setting up the community tents.
Food Crew - Need 3-4 people to take turns throughout the night cleaning & straightening up the food & tea table.
Visual Crew - Need 3-4 people to help with setting up a projector and maintaining visuals (swapping out dvds, tapes, etc). If anyone has access to a projector we could use for the night, contact Maer. It doesn't have to be extremely bright.
Sound Crew - Need 1-2 people to help setup the sound system & outside speakers.
Financial
In an effort towards total transparency, here is a breakdown of the financial outlay for ~confluence~. The event pays for itself with zero profit. The only people that get paid are headline acts and the venue. The rest of the money is spent on the experience of the event. Thank you deeply to those who are donating their time, art, and supplies.
